Republicans - Tolerate America - Hate Americans



While reading tweets I was directed to a Daily Kos diary about the US senators who voted against the relief bill for Sandy victims.

Steve Benen did a little math with these votes. In the House, 78 percent of Republicans voted against emergency aid. In the Senate, those 36 votes represent 80 percent of Republicans.

Which followed with comments like this:
They love America but hate Americans;
They love "The Right Kind of Americans"
When they start treating Blue staters like we aren't worthy of help and consideration, like we aren't American...it's over

I would change these to read:
They tolerate America in it's current democratic republic form and hate Americans that aren't rich, white, male, and heterosexual.
They love the "right kind of" America and the "right kind of Americans"
 
As I read that I couldn’t help thinking about this post that I wrote two years ago – a snip
In my life I have never seen a political era that is so one-sided and not open to compromise.  The Democrats are basically - expected to always compromise - but the Republicans are just supposed to get what they want, when they want it and the rest of us are supposed to just keep our mouths shut.  NO!

You need to look at the Republican behavior from a new and different “Republican paradigm”.  This is not the Ronald Reagan era.  This is a bunch of selfish, egotistical, Republicans who are much more greedy and much more condescending to all outside their party.

So what does the “Republican paradigm” look like?

Republicans are caring people – they care about Republicans, specifically rich Republicans.  I would bet on the fact that they hate the  “tired, poor, huddled masses” Republicans.

Republicans are patriotic – in fact in their minds they probably believe they are the only true patriots.  This is their country, they own it, and only rich Republicans have the right to claim “Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”

Republicans are not trying to destroy the United States. They probably believe that this was written for them and only for them and their rich friends.
“When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them,…”
– they are trying to destroy everyone and everything that is not Republican.

It’s very possible that in their warped sense of reality, they believe that the “Republican States of America” shall prevail.
Then the Republicans can re-write the Pledge of Allegiance.
   I pledge allegiance to the swag
   of the Republican States of America and
   to our republic for which it stands, one nation,
   under our limited definition of God, 
   with liberty and justice for us.

They can change the country’s motto to read
   In Rich Republicans we trust.


The Republican motto has become:
   Love the Republican Party, love thyself –
   hate everyone else and hate everything else
   because no one else matters and nothing else matters
   except the Republican Party of America; God bless us one and all.

So guns can be sold today at prices far beyond what they were two months ago.

"AR's, AR 15 rifles are selling for, some of them, as much as five times as what they were selling for before," Krause said.

The same goes for ammo. A $5 box is selling for $20 on many gun websites. That's how much people want to get it. They are paying, whatever price is asked.

With the recent reelection of President Obama and the firearm related events, various politicians are discussing anti-gun legislation. In response, people are scared that the Federal Government will ban various weapons and high capacity magazines -- much like the government did back in 1994.

This had an overnight effect on AR rifle sales and prices as people rushed out to buy anything AR related they could find both in retail and online. Prices of the 30 round Magpul magazines that go into the AR rifles rose in price several hundred percent. What would have cost $12.50 for a standard 30 round magazine now runs $40.00 dollars if not more on auction sites. The premium top-of-the-line magazines run even higher. Online retailers are completely sold out of Magpul magazines, with some no longer taking backorders.

The Obama administration announcement that they are supporting a new Assault Weapon Ban, and a ban on high capacity magazines, has sent shockwaves through the industry. All day consumers have been buying guns, ammunition and magazines.

Brownells is fast running out of stock of 5.56mm NATO and magazines. They still have 20 and 30 round aluminum magazines in stock but they are have run out of 30 round Magpul magazines and 5.56mm ammunition. They still have some premium .223 Remington ammunition in stock, but it won’t last long.

Which causes the profits to increase!!!!
For instance, fourth-quarter profit for the Clayton-based Olin Corp., increased 85 percent, driven by strong sales of ammunition to commercial, military and law enforcement customers, according to reports released Tuesday. In Olin’s Winchester ammunition unit, sales increased to $155.8 million in the fourth quarter, from $122.5 million a year earlier. (See story in Business, A13)

Stock Prices Climb for Gun Makers, Retailers

Stock prices for companies that make and sell firearms are rising on President Barack Obama's call to Congress to pass an assault weapon ban.

Stocks for Sturm, Ruger, & Co. and Smith & Wesson rose about 4 percent on Wednesday, reports CNN. Sturm, Ruger have risen 13 percent in the month since the shootings in Newtown, Conn. on Dec. 14.

Retailers specializing in guns also have seen their stocks rise. Cabela's stock went up 6 percent on Wednesday and is up 20 percent in the month since the school shootings. Dick's Sporting Goods also marked a 6 percent increase on Wednesday.

The Tobacco Institute, Inc. was a United States tobacco industry trade group, founded in 1958 by the American tobacco industry.[1]:251[2] It was dissolved in 1998 as part of the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement.[3]:25

Founding
The Tobacco Institute was founded in 1958 as a trade association by cigarette manufacturers, who funded it proportionally to each company's sales. It was initially to supplement the work of the Tobacco Industry Research Committee (which later became the Council for Tobacco Research). The TIRC work had been limited to attacking scientific studies that put tobacco in a bad light, and the Tobacco Institute had a broader mission to put out good news about tobacco, especially economic news. It also attacked scientific studies, although more by casting doubt on them rather than by rebutting them directly. It also lobbied Congress, although initially at a low level.[4]:211,466

The Tobacco Institute collected intelligence on attitudes toward smoking, developed strategies, and lobbied legislators. Allan M. Brandt wrote, "The Tobacco Institute, on behalf of the companies, assembled an impressive record of derailing attempts to bring tobacco under any regulatory mandates whatsoever".[1]:276 By 1978 the Tobacco Institute had 70 lobbyists, and Senator Ted Kennedy said in 1979, "Dollar for dollar they're probably the most effective lobby on Capitol Hill".[4]:466

ALEC's relationship with the tobacco industry started after 1979, when ALEC Executive Director, Kathleen Teague, first wrote the Tobacco Institute seeking financial support. Shortly after, Institute members started participating in ALEC events. The industry's relationship with ALEC showed its worth quickly after ALEC provided Tobacco Institute members with face-to-face access to highest-level federal elected officials. In 1981, Tobacco Institute President Samuel Chilcote accepted an invitation to attend an ALEC "Exclusive White House and Cabinet Briefing" meeting with none other than the president of the United States, Ronald Reagan and his cabinet.

During the tobacco wars in the 1980’s and 1990’s which ALEC was a HUGE player in the "tobacco wars" drama.

Hillary - She is Ruthless

A group of Hillary Clinton supporters is launching a campaign to draft her to run for president — the first major push from an outside group for her to run.

The group, “Ready for Hillary,” filed as a super-PAC with the Federal Election Commission late last week and plans to roll out a website in the coming weeks.

 
Only hours after I had read this in a 1993 ALEC FYI Newsletter (distributed to all ALEC members) in an article entitled "Clintons Could be Great News for Conservative Organizations" :




  ....  as Bill's. Richard Norman, a fund-raiser whose clients include Oliver North, the RNC and the American Conservative Caucus (ACU), explained that in focus group studies of conservative donors, "Bill Clinton is seen as a typical politician and a very good politician, in the negative sense: willing to say anything and do anything to get reelected...But Hillary is dangerous. She is [seen as] committed to an agenda, and she is ruthless”. Those are the words they used. There is a tremendous fear out there. That fear has parlayed into big numbers for some conservative groups. The NRA has added 400,000 members over the past year and ACU has grown from 120,000 to 500,000 over the past year. 



This is—the great story here for anybody willing to find it and write about it and explain it is this vast right-wing conspiracy that has been conspiring against my husband since the day he announced for president. A few journalists have kind of caught on to it and explained it. But it has not yet been fully revealed to the American public.

Students at the university can obtain Plan B without waiting for an appointment by depositing $25 in the machine.
