NSFW - Carlin 1996 - Ahead of HIs Time

Nine Minutes

"These conservatives are really something, aren’t they? They are all in favor of the unborn, they will do anything for the unborn, but once you’re born, you’re on your own! Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months. After that, they don’t want to know about you, they don’t want to hear from you. No neo-natal care, no daycare, no head start, no school lunch, no food stamps, no welfare, no nothing! If you’re pre-born, you’re fine. If you’re pre-school, you’re fucked."

That's not all: He hits the nail on the head on what this is really about.

"They’re not pro-life. You know what they are? They’re anti-woman.

Pope (NC-ALEC) This is What Fascism Looks Like

There is a link in a Think Progress piece today about North Carolina.
That link takes you back to an article that written before Moral Monday protests started.

The April article begins:

In 2010, Republicans took over both houses of the North Carolina legislature for the first time since 1870, due in no small part to the spending of a single, very wealthy Republican. As Jane Mayer reported in 2011, “three-quarters of the spending by independent groups in North Carolina’s 2010 state races came from accounts linked to” wholesale baron Art Pope. Of the 22 state legislative races targeted by Pope’s family and his organizations, 18 fell to Republicans. Yet Pope’s bought-and-paid-for legislature had limited reach until very recently thanks to the state’s Democratic Governor Beverly Perdue. That all changed last January, when Perdue was succeeded by Republican Gov. Pat McCrory.

PLEASE read the whole article.

Not mentioned in that article is that McCrory then appointed / anointed Art Pope to help destroy North Carolina.

RALEIGH — Gov.-elect Pat McCrory expanded his cabinet selections by three on Thursday, and named a trio of key staffers that includes controversial political financier Art Pope.

Pope – whose network of organizations promotes a limited-government agenda – will be the new governor’s top budget-writer. A multimillionaire, he will take a leave from his retail chain store business, as well as from his family foundation and all public and nonprofit boards he serves on in order to take the job without pay.
So what you have here is
Under Citizens United a multi-millionaire businessman bought a state legislature.
Then the multi-millionaire businessman got a position running the state.

And then all hell broke loose
because what Pope bought - was a legislature that hates the public.

Why does the legislature that Pope bought hate the public?
Because they are almost all members of the extremist pro-corporate, American Legislative Exchange Council, INCLUDING POPE.

Pope
Verifiable past ALEC member
    probably still is
Multi-millionaire businessman
   Buys a state
      then get annointed to
   Help run the state

Extremist Officials Lead to Extreme Reactions

This video has been roaming around the internet for the past 24 hours.
It wasn’t until I read the story on Crooks & Liars that I found a hook that needs to be addressed.

A 72 year old woman, Martha Northington, was arrested in the Texas Senate gallery, booked at the Travis County jail, and charged with at least one felony -- assaulting an officer -- as well as resisting arrest.
How convenient for the GOP - Felons can’t vote in many states.
A 72 year old woman
assaulting an officer
Really?
REALLY?

The charges were later reduced – supposedly.

"This woman was doing nothing but sitting until this state trooper who had already manhandled other women decided to grab her, hurt her and arrest her," Willmann wrote on her YouTube page.
This is what the extremist policies of the GOP have led to.
    A 72 year old woman
   assaulting an officer
   Felony charges
Now, if that isn't an extremist policy and reaction - I don't know what the hell is.

Their extremist reactionary policies have filtered down to other public servants – hired to serve and protect – manhandling senior citizens – because the government implicitly or even, explicitly has told them to do so.

Inappropriately charging protestors with felonies – becausetheycan

When do people start seeing how incredibly wrong it is for our law enforcement to respond in such extreme measures?
When do people start to say “NO!”

This is what happens when you have extremists in government.
Their extreme viewpoints infiltrate all level of public service leading to extreme reactions that in a civil society should not be tolerated.

Jones (ALEC-NC) - Demonstrates the Extremist Apporach

When the first thing that a person does is the extremist thing to do – you really need to start questioning their ability to reason in a rational manner.

When it is a government official whose first reaction is an extreme reaction – without considering other more reasonable alternatives – you really need to question whether that person should be a public servant.  Looking for the extremist approach – over something more reasoned – is NOT a good quality in a government official.

Choosing, as your preferred stance,  to take an extremist position – rather than think out a more rational and moderate approach is not appropriate regardless of where you work.

There has to come a time when the GOP recognizes that the American Legislative Exchange Council and its members represent an extremist ultra-conservative viewpoint does not represent the majority of the GOP.

From HuffPo

North Carolina Rep. Walter Jones, an outspoken anti-war Republican, said Thursday that he was prepared to attempt to impeach President Barack Obama if U.S. military action in Syria reached a certain point.

"If Congress sends one troop, if one of our troops goes to Syria and is killed, I will introduce articles of impeachment against the President," Jones said at a Capitol Hill news conference,

He's been equally aggressive during Obama's tenure. In 2011, Jones sued the administration for getting American forces involved in Libya without first obtaining congressional approval.

I wonder if this extremist posturing has anything to do with a shared belief with other ALECers like Huelskamp who said ""A majority of Americans don't like President Obama as president"

In 2011, Jones sued the administration
OMG!
In 2012, he prepared his first impeachment resolution regarding Syria, arguing that "the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress" would constitute "an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution."
In 2012, he prepared his first impeachment resolution
Now, you would think – over the course of time, Jones would have figured out a more moderate way of handling this situation – but no, because he only thinks in extremes.

In 2013 – impeachment
In 2012 – he prepared his first impeachment resolution
In 2011 – Jones sued the administration
Doesn’t this guy have anything better to spend his time on?

Think about it folks - this type of extreme reaction, repeated over time does not promote anything in our country and serves NO purpose.
Nothing!

Eventually, the people of the USA will begin to understand threat the conservative movement that Paul Weyrich started is destroying the RepubliCON party because of their extremist views held by the conservative movement.

The conservatives of today are the extremists of the GOP – they are the WRONG part of the right.

We must repeatedly denounce right-wing extremist organizations like ALEC – for the extremist groups that they are – and bring to light the extremism of ALEC members.
