If this doesn't scare you - it .......................should - think about it!

Also from the 1983 Annual Report
ALEC serves as the coordinator between state policymakers, corporate government affairs officers, and White House and Intergovernmental Liaison personnel. ALEC has played a highly visible role in the advancement of the Federalism concept, and has worked closely with the White House and Agency Intergovernmental Affairs offices.

Many ALEC members hold positions on national committees and commissions. ALEC Board Member and former ALEC National Chairman, Idaho Speaker of the House Tom Stivers, chaired thejudicial and Regulatory Reform Subcommittee of the President's Advisory Committee on Federalism. Immediate Past Chairman, Senator Donald E. Lukens serves as Chairman of the President's Export Council's Subcommittee on Export Administration.

President Reagan appointed ALEC's Executive Director Kathleen Teague to serve on the Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations.
