Read about this situation when Rick Scott in Florida implemented their "drug testing" for welfare recipients.
Read about this when ALEC member Nikki Haley wanted to implement it in SC for welfare recipients.
And now the Republicans in the fed want you to pee in a cup for extended unemployment benefits.
It was introduced by ALEC ALUMNI - Jack Kingston of Georgia.
There is no empirical evidence to suggest that the majority of welfare recipients or unemployment benefits recipients are drug users.
There is no empirical evidence that making people pee in a cup is going to reduce welfare or unemployment claims.
Then - why are legislators doing this?
Who benefits from this program?
Becausetheycan - for the ALEC private sector members who do drug testing and want to make more money!
This seems absolutely ridiculous to the average citizen - it is.
To the average citizen this seems like overkill for a problem that doesn't exist to any great measure - it is
- but to the ALEC private enterprise sector members who do drug testing - they see $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Millions and millions and millions of dollars!!!!!!
With 14 million people unemployed - that's a great new "revenue stream" for an ALEC private sector member.
Who benefits from this program? CORPORATIONS!!!!
FOLLOW THE MONEY!!!!!!
The question has to be - who will benefit from this program and the only answer is the drug testing companies and I bet the majority of them ALL belong to ALEC.
AND I will bet they have been talking about implementing this at the state and federal level at ALEC meetings for many, many years.
AND I bet there was a financial incentive for any legislator who could get this implemented in their state.
ALEC Government of, by, and for the corporations!
