GOP – Attacks Minnesota Caucus Process
I found this story extremely hypocritical – as the GOP
and ALEC are always talking about giving the states more power.
MORE GOP LIES!! Say one thing to the public - do another thing behind closed doors.
Here’s the issue:
A national party committee on Friday approved a rule change that would require state parties to apportion convention delegates based on presidential preference votes, and it would bind those delegates to vote for their preferred candidates throughout the nomination process.For Minnesota Republicans, it would, in effect, change the nonbinding straw ballot at the party's February precinct caucuses into a binding primary election, said Rules Committee member Bill Paulsen, a delegate from Lonsdale"It would essentially destroy Minnesota's system of using caucuses and conventions to elect delegates," Paulsen said Monday during a Minnesota GOP delegation meeting.A second proposed rule change is worse, Paulsen said. It would allow a presidential nominee to remove an elected delegate and replace him or her with one chosen by the candidate."What this amounts to is a power grab ... that would concentrate power in a handful of Washington insiders who would pick our delegates and control the national party," he said.
GOP = Bye-Bye Democracy
And in addition to that the GOP is putting all the Ron
Paul supporting states like Minnesota in the nosebleed seats – so their voices
CAN NOT be heard.
NO RMoney dissenters allowed on the main floor of the convention.
Hild the party line - or go to the back of thebus arena.

The Republican National Convention seating chart, obtained by POLITICO Sunday, shows the delegations from Nevada, Louisiana, Maine, Minnesota and Oklahoma all located on the outer fringe of the convention floor. Each are states with significant Paul followings.The delegation for the Northern Mariana Islands, on the other hand, is right in front behind the gang from Michigan, birth state of Republican nominee Mitt Romney. Other groups with pretty good seats include those from the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and American Samoa. None has electoral votes that can impact the outcome of the election.
