R ALEC Members Koch and Raytheon Watching U????

I don’t put on a tinfoil hat very often – but in this entry I will – becauseican – because of what we know and what has happened over the years.

Imagine this hypothetical situation

A hypothetical situation made possible by an ALEC meeting

Imagine ALEC Corporate members sitting around visiting.

A lobbyist from ALEC member Raytheon

Mike Morgan from ALEC member Koch industries

sitting around smoking cigars and drinking at an ALEC meeting.

A hypothetical situation

They look outside and see some protestors and Mike Morgan complains to the Raytheon lobbyist with the “Woe is me” tale of ALEC and the Koch brothers.

And the ALEC member Raytheon lobbyist tells the Koch representative a little story – 

The ALEC member Raytheon lobbyist says, “Have I got a deal for you – let me tell you about a new product your bosses might be interested in.  It's not on the market yet - but we could probably work something out.  You might like this - it could be of assistance to you.”

  

Riot, or Rapid Information Overlay Technology

Riot is a big data analytics system design we are working on with industry, national labs and commercial partners

In December, Riot was featured in a newly published patent Raytheon is pursuing for a system designed to gather data on people from social networks, blogs and other sources

can gather vast amounts of information about people from websites including Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare

The sophisticated technology demonstrates how the same social networks   …  can be transformed into a “Google for spies” and tapped as a means of monitoring and control.

Riot pulls out this information, showing not only the photographs posted onto social networks by individuals, but also the location at which the photographs were taken

Riot can display on a spider diagram the associations and relationships between individuals online by looking at who they have communicated with over Twitter.

And then the Raytheon lobbyist looks at Mike Morgan of Koch Industries and says,

“I just remembered - I have a demo video showing how we tracked one of our employees – let’s take a look at it and I can show you how this might be important for your use.

CISPA Claws Back to Life

It's baa-aaack.

The House cybersecurity bill that allows the National Security Agency (NSA) and the military to collect your private internet records is scheduled for an encore appearance on Wednesday. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-MI) and Ranking Member Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD) will reintroduce the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA), which news reports say will be the same bill that passed the House of Representatives last year.
