First we had to put up with the proliferation of ALEC Voter ID legislation

Verified by this ALEC state legislator - stating to the world that ALEC legislators were willing to do anything legislatively necessary to ensure that Republicans win

At the same time that Voter ID was happening -  ALEC and ALEC state legislators were interfering in redistricting efforts across America (yes this story is about WI, but ALEC interfered here in MN also.).  ALEC using their ALEC state legislators to destroy the integrity of our democratic process; ALEC state legislators doing anything legislatively necessary for Republicans to win

After the Republicans lost in 2012 ALEC legislators kept on going:

Then another shot across the bow with ALEC and ALEC state legislators continued interference in redistricting efforts across America– to rig the electoral college.  ALEC using their ALEC state legislators to force election results across the states - ALEC state legislators doing anything legislatively necessary for Republicans to win

And we also have the ALEC Resolution in Support of the Citizens United Decision written on behalf of all of ALEC's Corporate Sector “corporations are people, my friend” Members.

 

And we also have the ALEC Resolution Supporting the First Amendment in Elections designed to ensure that campaign ads can mislead voters with false statements unregulated by state law.

But oh no, that wasn’t enough - then we had this:

The Republican Study Committee is laying the groundwork for a new informal partnership with the American Legislative Exchange Council, even as dozens of major corporations cut ties with the conservative nonprofit for its support of controversial voting and gun laws.

The RSC is working quietly with ALEC to host a gathering next Friday at the Heritage Foundation in hopes of establishing an ongoing relationship with the group that would allow federal lawmakers to exchange ideas with state legislators.

We were forewarned - or should have been by that event.

But hell no -  that wasn’t even enough - now we have this (my emphasis):

Today, the Republican National Committee (RNC) released its wide-ranging “autopsy” report in response to the party’s disastrous 2012 elections. The report, entitled “Growth and Opportunity Project,” outlines a variety of policy recommendations including, among other base ideas, abolishing campaign spending regulations and contribution limits. In the report, the RNC specifically calls on ALEC to help develop and implement model legislation to “improve” these campaign finance laws.

The RNC places ALEC alongside the Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) and the RNC as an organization that is well-suited to “improve” campaign finance laws and propagate them nationwide:

Where else to go to destroy democracy – ALEC

ALEC claims power with

    Over 2000+ state legislators and government officials

    89 members of Congress

Why wouldn’t the RNC go to ALEC?

American Legislative Exchange Council – destroying democracy one ALEC policy/action after another, using YOUR ALEC state/federal legislator.

The RNC and ALEC have watched as the majority of the general public and government officials  – in whole – have done nothing to stop ALEC's on-going destruction of our democratic process.  The majority of the general public and government officials have sat on the asses and done nothing – just watched as ALEC continued to destroy our democracy.

And for forty years - state and federal legislators from across the US have sat back and watched while ALEC has grown - and they did nothing - they didn't warn us, they didn't stop ALEC. 

For two years I have stated over and over and over and over and over again

that ALEC legislators must not be re-elected or elected and people have chosen not to listen.

Yet - even with all the proof piling up around us - the irrational and idiotic belief of the general public and other legislators is that ALEC legislators are harmless, which very may cause our democracy to crumble for ALL people – not just liberals.
