ALEC Ag-Gag Bills Expand to Protect Fracking Ops

This bill would prohibit people from photographing oil and gas operations because they are occurring on agricultural lands

I have always said that what ALEC legislators introduce – is not the end all be all.
Look out – there is always more to come from ALEC legislators.

In February, 2013 PA House Bill 683 was proposed by nine Pennsylvania lawmakers – Reps. Gary Haluska [D-73rd], Carl Metzgar [R-69th], Stephen Barrar [R-160th], M. K. Keller [R-86th], Dick Hess [R-78th], Dan Moul [R-91st], Mike Fleck [R-81st], C. Adam Harris [R-82nd] and Tom Murt [R-152nd]. Steve Todd was among the first to report on it in his February 26 post, PA State House Judiciary Committee: NO on HB683. This bill would prohibit people from photographing oil and gas operations because they are occurring on agricultural lands. By fracking farmland, gas drillers would gain new impunity under a piece of anti-whistle blower legislation, commonly known as an “Ag-gag.”

Dangerous – incredibly dangerous, precedence are being set by this ALEC ag-gag legislation.
Horrible precendents.
If you think it can’t get any worse:
Contemplate this and what it would mean for the future.

It is now just over a week since the Exxon pipeline disaster in Mayflower, Arkansas. Exxon is reportedly threatening journalists with arrest when they try to cover the story and is apparently in charge of an FAA “no-fly zone” over the spill site. It remains to be seen if the disaster will significantly impact the conversations over Keystone, but it is likely that the recent pipeline spills won't even be mentioned if opponents of the pipeline are not as organized as supporters.

Who is in control - we the people or ALEC corporate members?

ALEC legislators – doing the bidding of the member corporations of the American Legislative Exchange Council.

Don’t know who/what ALEC is?
