Gotta Love the ALEC Fighting OKC Firefighters!!!!

Before I get started - is there anything planned for the Oklahoma City ALEC meeting?
If anyone is planning a protest against ALEC in OKC
they are doing a damn good job of keeping it secret

If they keep the secret well enough
no one will know the ALEC OKC protest is happening
and no one will know to show up.
OKC - ALEC protest should be all over the web - it is only two weeks away.

The first union ever to actually mobilize their members and march against ALEC.
Hot diggity damn.

The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is having their annual National Spring Summit at the Cox Convention Center May 2 and 3

Please join our General President Harold Schaitberger, IAFF 11th District Vice President Sandy McGhee and your PFFO Executive Board for the "Working Family Rally and March for the Middle Class"  on Thursday May 2nd from 4:00-8:00 pm at the Coca Cola Events Center in Bricktown for the rally and march on the Cox Convention Center.

The march will be followed by hotdogs and live music at the Coca-Cola Events Center. Please plan to attend'
For more information go to www.OKAFLCIO.ORG and click on ALEC Exposed in OKLAHOMA! And make sure to sign the petition against ALEC in Oklahoma! Or call the PFFO office.

Lets hope it's not too late for the unions to mobilize, in general.
In my opinion they have waited too damn long to take on the organization that is training ALEC state legislators to introduce right-to-work-for-less bills.

Little do they know that this was written by ALEC in July 2008 - when their magazine - Inside ALEC which is distributed to ALL ALEC members stated
"Union Bill to Disrupt Public Safety in the States:

ALEC's focus in that article was firefighters.

And they noted that
Local governments would be forced to bargain with union officials according to the broad terms of this Act which takes away an employees right to negotiate directly with their employer - a right ALEC believes is fundamental to successful employer-employee relationship.

The reason we have unions is because this
employees right to negotiate directly with their employer
DOES NOT WORK all the time.

AND NO UNION IS EXEMPT because
ALEC believes is fundamental to successful employer-employee relationship

Finally - maybe the time has come for the unions to mobilize and be more than mouthpieces in the fight against the extremist, right-wing American Legislative Exchange Council.
