So my questions are?
Who in neighboring states will ride up with them?
Who will step forward and help them fund this?
Who in Chicago will welcome them with open arms and show them some Midwest hospitality?
Who woulda thunk?
Fifty years ago - Northerners were going to the South - to help save democracy.
Fifty years later - Southerners are coming to the North - to help save democracy.
By Dr. Anne Sulton, Esq.JA Senior International CorrespondentMillions of Americans are outraged that George Zimmerman was acquitted by a jury of six women of murdering Trayvon Martin by arguing that he was standing his ground or acting in self-defense.Over a million people have signed the NAACP petition designed to pressure the Federal government to prosecute Zimmerman under Federal civil rights laws. Rev. Al Sharpton and others are calling for vigils at Federal courthouses this weekend.SNIPALEC’s error is understandable given that it often works in the vacuum of an ideology that some consider conservative and/or far right of center.Acknowledging the many tragedies occurring since the adoption of ALEC’s flawed proposed “stand your ground” legislation, the Jackson Advocate Newspaper is joining Hinds County Supervisor Kenneth Stokes in organizing a bus trip from Jackson to Chicago on August 7, 2013.ALEC’s convention is scheduled to be held from August 7 to 9, 2013. The Palmer House Hilton is the selected hotel. Among the featured speakers is former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.During an exclusive interview with Hinds County Supervisor Kenneth Stokes, he stated: “We will be asking ALEC to help us repeal and dismantle these ‘stand your ground’ laws that polarized our communities, resulted in unnecessary deaths, and not reduced crime.”Alice Tisdale, Publisher of the Jackson Advocate, explained: “Chicago provides a great venue to discuss crime control issues with ALEC and others concerned about the staggering amount of gun violence occurring in Chicago, Jackson and other major cities since the beginning of 2013.”For additional information on joining the Jackson Advocate and Kenneth Stokes for the bus ride to Chicago or meeting them at the ALEC conference in Chicago, please call the Jackson Advocate at 601-948-4122 or email thejacksonadvocate@gmail.com.
Their outrage may be around Stand Your Ground - but their outrage could also be around Voter ID and public education privatization.

My question to you is:
Is your state putting together a bus trip to help save our representative democracy, of, for and by the people? Are you coming to Chicago?
If Mississippians can do it - so can you!!!
If Mississippians can do it - so can you!!!
There is a rally at noon on August 8 that is being coordinated by the Chicago Federation of Unions.
There are also protests on August 7, August 8, and August 9 - by concerned citizens and activists.
Your outrage may be around Stand Your Ground - but your outrage should
also be around Voter ID and public education privatization.
Your outrage should be about the fact that ALEC state legislators are meeting in Chicago with corporate lobbyists and foreign nationals, behind closed doors in secret to write pro-corporate legislation that does not support a representative government of, for, and by the PEOPLE.
Thousands of people are getting together in Chicago to say:
The USA is NOT OK with the extremist, pro-corporate American Legislative Exchange Council, please join us.
