DON'T Call Me ALEC!!!!!

He said: "now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do
But ya ought to thank me, before I die
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I'm the son of a bitch that named you sue."

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son
And I came away with a different point of view
And I think about him, now and then
Every time I try and every time I win
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or george! any damn thing but sue! I still hate that name!
A Boy Named Sue:  Johnny Cash

Too Funny!!!!

Last year  there was this:
Top Brand Failure of 2012: Lance Armstrong and a Legacy of Deception
Mark Serrano is a leading political and policy strategist, public affairs and digital PR exper

Many high profile brands have suffered damage in 2012. This would certainly include American Airlines, the Chevy Volt, and Apple, Inc. in the business world, and the American Legislative Exchange Council and the National Rifle Association in the political arena.

That was written after ALEC had hired hi-profile and very expensive PR firm Edelman.
BTW – ALEC – how’s that working for ya?

Well, not so well - cause they still have a PR issue

Anyhoo - - - - -

“You may have noticed we are limiting the use of the acronym 'ALEC,'” wrote Bill Meierling, ALEC's recently-hired Senior Director of Public Affairs in a March 13 email sent to ALEC members and obtained through an open records request.

“Over the past year, the word 'ALEC' has been used to conjure up images of a distant, mysterious, Washington alphabet organization of unknown intentions,” he continued. “The organization has refocused on the words 'Exchange' and 'Council' to emphasize our goal of a broad exchange of ideas to make government work better and more efficiently.”

DON’T Call me ALEC!

So basically what you have is:
I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son
And I came away with a different point of view
And I think about him, now and then
Every time I try and every time I win
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or george! any damn thing but ALEC! I still hate that name!

DON’T Call me ALEC!

But the problem with this is that as you will note in the PR release noted above

It doesn’t mention “ALEC”.

Someone needs to tell Mr. “super-star” Meierling that bad branding is based on actions – not words and the right-wing, extremist, ultraconservative actions of the American Legislative Exchange Council are nasty – regardless of how you package it.

Too Funny!!!!
And these folks evidently have a degree in PR and marketing.
Too Funny!!!!

Bonedigger, Bonedigger,
Dogs in the moonlight.
Far away, my well-lit door.
Mr. Beerbelly, Beerbelly,
Get these mutts away from me!
You know, I don't find this stuff amusing anymore ....

If you'll be my bodyguard,
I can be your long lost pal!
I can call you Betty,
And Betty, when you call me,
You can call me Al
Paul Simon

But, DON’T Call me ALEC!

ALEC
ALEC
ALEC
ALEC
ALEC
