One of those benefits is "sick time".
Where I work sick time is available so you can still get paid - when you are sick, when your kid is sick or when you have to take off time for medical appointments. To many of us - that pay is extremely important.
Well if WI has it's way - and if it starts to spread - YOU can kiss your sick time good bye - ALEC now has it and is hadning it out to their members - this will spread across the USA.
On Tuesday, the [WI] state assembly passed a bill, 59-35, that will not only
’s ordinance; it will also prohibit all other cities and counties Milwaukee
from offering paid sick leave on their own. The state senate Wisconsin
passed the bill earlier in the year, when the Democrats were in
Now, just as I predicted a few weeks ago, the Republicans in the state have
done away with
's ordinance mandating that all companies Milwaukee
above 10 employees must provide at least five days of paid sick leave
per year. And to ensure that employees have no rights,
they've broadened the ban on requiring paid sick leave to the entire state.
One of the disadvantages of sitting on the sidelines and watching what is happening - instead of doing something - is that YOU will lose rights and benefits that you take for granted.
Time to wake up America - before you are working 16 hour days, 6 days a week, with no insurance and with NO PAID TIME OFF.
UPDATE - October 20, 2011
Well - Milwaukee's ordinance passed and it was so damn good that the ALEC members form Wisconsin brought it to the annaul meeting of the American Legilsative Exchange Council (ALEC) and had a whole seminar on how to get this law passed around the United States by ALEC members - so eventually NO ONE WIL:L HAVE sick leave. Read about it here.
WE MUST make sure that ALL ALEC members are NOT RE-ELECTED at he state and federal level.
