Racist, Homophobic ALEC Members

Here you have Don Young - ALEC Alum
My father had a ranch; we used to have 50-60 wetbacks to pick tomatoes,” Young said. “It takes two people to pick the same tomatoes now. It’s all done by machine.

It is 2013 - This was a freudian slip of his most basic beliefs.
Any apology is forced
 - becausehehasto -
 - not becausehewantsto

Betcha dollars to donuts
he told that exact smae story at an ALEC cigar reception
using the exact same words.

MICHIGAN
And then you have Dave Agema, past ALECer (maybe even still) and
a Republican National Committeeman and former Michigan state representative
and his homophobic Facebook notice.

Michigan GOP Big Shot Dave Agema In Trouble Over Anti-Gay Posting

Read about it

And I am not the only one making these connections.
Later the same day - WashPo published this.

From the right wing Washington Post - the only thing they forgot - was that these nut cases were members of the extremist right-wing ALEC.  But then the WashPo article is concerned with how it affects the Republicon party - not thatthis behaviro has become endemic to the Republicon party.

Earlier in the week, an RNC official from Michigan argued that being gay is an unhealthy lifestyle — posting an article to his Facebook page that labeled homosexuality as “filthy.” The RNC committeeman, Dave Agema, declined to take down the post.

GOP leaders were quick to denounce both Agema and Young, a 21-term House member who has long had rocky relations with the Republican establishment.

ALEC-er Don Shooter of Arizona
Storms into a grade school
A visibly upset Sen. Don Shooter entered a classroom againsta school official’s will and verbally confronted a teacher during class, frightening the students and the teacher, Yuma police reported.

The teacher is pursuing an assault charge against the senator, according to the police report.

Shooter burst into the classroom the morning of March 22 in a “visibly angry manner” and demanded to speak with a teacher, who told police Shooter “was an arm’s length from me pointing and shaking his finger at me,” the report said.

The outburst scared the teacher, Danielle Munoz, and students in her classroom, the report said.

“She was afraid for her safety and the safety of her students,” according to an officer’s account of the incident in the police report.

Examples of crazy, racist, homophobic past/present members of the extremist American Legislative Exchange Council.

8 MILLION new guns in four Months

Washington (CNN) -- FBI background checks on gun sales have now topped two million in each of the past four months, according to the latest figures made available on Monday.

Although the law enforcement agency does not offer public analysis of its figures, the high check rate occurs amid debate in Washington over new gun control measures mainly in response to December's school shooting in Connecticut.

The agency performed more than 2.3 million checks in February using the National Instant Criminal Background Check System.

The monthly record of 2.7 million occurred in December. January was the second-highest month at 2.4 million. Prior to November, the number of monthly FBI background checks had never exceeded 1.8 million.

And you are dumb enough to think that all the brouhaha is about "gun rights"?

Everything about this - - - - - - - is about money
Ammo profits higher
Gun sales profits higher

The NRA doesn’t give a damn about 2nd amendment rights
The NRA  is concerned with making money for the corporations that sponsor the NRA

And you are dumb enough
to think this is about "gun rights"?
FOOL!

WalMart's Profits Trump Customer Safety

This article was brought to my attention on Daily Kos.

Wal-Mart is making a big push to ship online orders directly from stores, hoping to cut transportation costs and gain an edge over Amazon and other online retailers, which have no physical store locations. Wal-Mart does this at 25 stores currently, but plans to double that to 50 this year and could expand the program to hundreds of stores in the future.

Wal-Mart currently uses carriers like FedEx Corp for delivery from stores - or, in the case of a same-day delivery service called Walmart To Go that is being tested in five metro areas, its own delivery trucks.

Wal-Mart would offer a discount on the customers' shopping bill, effectively covering the cost of their gas in return for the delivery of packages, he added.
Boy, there is so much wrong with this from a labor perspective. So much!!!!
But first and foremost – think of all the money they will save
– which means more profits for Wal-Mart

But I keep coming back to ALEC and Walmart.
Wal-Mart Stores[14], Member of ALEC corporate board,[1] "Chairman" level sponsor of 2011 ALEC Annual Conference[17] ($50,000 in 2010),[18] and member of ALEC Commerce, Insurance and Economic Development Task Force,[42] Health and Human Services Task Force,[13] and Tax and Fiscal Policy Task Force - Wal-Mart told Reuters on May 30 that it is suspending its ALEC membership.[143]

Member of ALEC corporate board

Knew EVERYTHING that was going on at ALEC

   including Kill at Will legislation.
WalMart executives helped pass "Kill at Will"

You do remember kill at will legislation right?
That’s no longer the case in the 25 states that have enacted “Stand Your Ground” laws at the behest of the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). In those states, if you’ve had a terrible day, if you just don’t like the other guy very much or if you want to try out that new handgun you just bought, you can feel free to escalate the level of violence in a physical altercation by shooting him. Even if you kill him, the law has got your back. You’ll be immune not only from criminal prosecution, but also from any potential civil lawsuits

WalMart’s corporate profit trumps Customer Safety.
Are you a risk taker?
Like to live on the edge?
Deliver packages for WalMart and we
will guarantee you an adventure every day
Every time you get out of your car to deliver a WalMart package
you can be rest assured that you are taking your life
into your own hands - to increase WalMart profits.
YOU can feel the exhilaration of wondering"  Will I be Killed Today, for WalMart?"
The potential of a gun nut psycho - behind every door -
pick a door - any door
and make a delivery for WalMart.

Because, we here at WalMart - appreciate that very much
Because
we - the owners of WalMart
the Walton family
hold 14% of all the wealth in the US - we want more
The Walton heirs have more wealth than 40% of America - they want more
From 2007 to 2010 - our family wealth only went from $73 up to $89 BILLION - we want more
Our six heirs are worth $113 BILLION - they want more

Please help us make more profit - more revenues - cause we want more.

The potential of a gun nut psycho - behind every door -
pick a door - any door
and make a delivery for WalMart.

WalMart’s corporate profit trumps customer safety - becausetheycan.

Not gonna miss that party!!!!

Progressives are Not a "Movement"

I heard this on the radio on the way home today.
It's the truth - the whole truth
and nothing but the truth

And the truth hurts.

12 minutes of your time.
Time to wake up.

What is in it for "my" movement???
That is the problem that the citizen journalists have been running into with the topic of ALEC.
The nonprofits who have co-opted the ALEC story, see ALEC as the biggest damn purse they have ever found.
Instead of working together with citizen journalist and researchers that know a shitload about ALEC - they kick us to the curb - becausetheycan.

Nonprofits vs Citizen Journalists and Citizen Activists
There is no consolidation of effort - unless you are a nonprofit in the circle.
If you are not in the nonprofit beltway - you don't exist.
    The nonprofits are always right.
If it isn't the nonprofits idea - it's not important - to hell with everybody else.
It's not my idea (or article I will get media coverage for) - so,
citizen journalist / activist the hell with you and your research!
It won't bring in donations to my nonprofit
    or
There is an inane argument that it "might" hurt donations to their nonprofit.

Therefore the citizen journalist/citizen activist doesn't exist for the nonprofits who have co-opted the ALEC story.

A group of us have been banging our f#cking heads against the wall trying to get the nonprofits to recognize us and what we contribute - - - - - - and they refuse.
Our contribution is different - but because we aren't part of the circle - we are kicked to the curb.
Instead of working with us - they ignore us.  We don't fit the "image" they want for the ALEC story - so they don't promote us and they don't acknowledge us - making us fight for recognition in the larger audience.  When in fact - if we worked together we would impact larger audiences - cause my audience is a different audience that could be tapped  to tell the ALEC story to - IF there was cooperation.

And because of that - we will fail.
No unity - no cooperation - no movement.

FBI only Dowloading "Criminals" - HAH!

FBI's Lawyer Says Modernizing Surveillance Law For Real-Time Online Snooping Is A 'Top Priority' In 2013

The Huffington Post  |  By Gerry Smith  Posted: 03/28/2013 11:15 am EDT

The FBI’s "top priority" in 2013 is to modernize surveillance law so authorities can monitor in real time the Web activities of Americans suspected of committing crimes, the FBI’s general counsel said.

What a crock of sh#t.
They are downloading everything
Cause to the FBI we’re all criminals.
Every damn single one of us..
We all guilty until  ---   proven guilty.

Well FBI – you can put this one in your database
And shove it.
F#ck You and your damn data collection.
