A group of Louisiana legislators have launched an effort to bring together lawmakers from states across the Gulf Coast to discuss shared issues and allow the region to speak with a single voice when lobbying the federal government.

"We're really excited about it," said Rep. Kirk Talbot, [ALEC] the council's chairman.

Rep. Lenar Whitney, R-Houma, is serving as the vice-chair of the group while Sen. Danny Martiny, R-Metairie [ALEC], and Sen. Neil Riser, R-Columbia [ALEC], are heading up the organization of a conference for the group.

House Speaker Pro Tem Rep. Walt Leger, D-New Orleans [ALEC], is leading the Louisiana delegation to the organization while Rep. Chris Hazel, R-Pineville [ALEC], will serve as vice-chair.

The council is modeled after other cross-state organizations including the National Conference of State Legislatures, a bipartisan group, and the American Legislative Exchange Council, a conservative organization that promotes legislation on a number of issues.
But, ON - NO - - - - - - -
HOW DARE YOU insinuate that this may be an ALEC regional mini-me.

When the new group was “ambiguously” compared to ALEC in the above article
An ALEC member noted in a tweet:
“it is ambiguous and didn’t like the insinuation either”
“it is ambiguous and didn’t like the insinuation either”

It appears from the tone of that - even ALEC members don't want to be associated with the nastiness of the American Legislative Exchange Council.

“it is ambiguous and didn’t like the insinuation either”
