Nationwide - Covering ALEC's Butt or Their Own???

Got a plug from CMD this morning – which I very appreciated.

However, a review of ALEC materials by the "2old2care" blog, verified by the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD), revealed that a Nationwide employee received an ALEC award for corporate lobbyists and special interest group representatives four years ago.

BUT – I take issue with this statement from Nationwide in the CMD article.
Nationwide's current Director of Public Relations, Dace de la Foret, told CMD: "I spoke to Susan Valauri, and she confirmed that based on Nationwide's decision not to continue its affiliation with ALEC she resigned from her position as Private Sector Chair at ALEC prior to 2002. The 2008 award was for past service, and at the time she was not a member nor did she have any affiliation with ALEC."

You see – ALEC has been disingenuous for almost 40 years.
You see – IMHO – most ALEC members have been intentionally lying to the USA for almost 40 years.
You see - IMHO - the American Legislative Exchange Council is one of the most heinous, secretive, duplicitous, organizations to hit the US democracy - having hidden their agenda for almost 40 years.

So – when I re-read this in the CMD article:
Nationwide's current Director of Public Relations, Dace de la Foret, told CMD: "I spoke to Susan Valauri, and she confirmed that based on Nationwide's decision not to continue its affiliation with ALEC she resigned from her position as Private Sector Chair at ALEC prior to 2002. The 2008 award was for past service, and at the time she was not a member nor did she have any affiliation with ALEC."

AND I saw this in the CMD article:
Ms. Valauri received the award from ALEC, when it was led by Alan Bronson Smith. He was Nationwide's head of government relations from 1978 to 2002.  Smith not only represented Nationwide on ALEC's corporate "Private Enterprise" board a decade ago, but also a few years after leaving Nationwide he became the Executive Director of ALEC from 2008 to 2009.

And I think this again:

You see – ALEC has been disingenuous for almost 40 years.
You see – IMHO –most ALEC members have been intentionally lying to the USA for almost 40 years.
You see - IMHO - the American Legislative Exchange Council is one of the most heinous, secretive, duplicitous, organizations to hit the US democracy - having hidden their agenda for almost 40 years.

BECAUSE
I KNOW I have this 1996 ALEC Joint Board Meeting document on file:
COMMITTEE REPORTS Awards - Senator Rhoads stated that there has been a lot of discussion over the past few years that ALEC has been giving too many awards out and it is becoming less meaningful to get one . He said that the Committee recommends that no more than 18 awards be given out, with a breakdown as follows : Legislator of the Year, 5 ; Private Enterprise Leader of the Year, 3 ; Host Committee awards, leave up to those making the nominations ; Volunteer Staff Members, 2 . He added that nominations could be made by both chairs of each task force, one candidate for each award, the chairman of the Board of Directors could nominate one legislator and the chairman of the Private Enterprise Board could nominate one private enterprise member . He stated that the Awards Committee would provide its recommendations for these awards to the Executive Committee of the Board. He said that legislator and private enterprise awards would be limited to ALEC members only and that non-ALEC members could be awarded certificates of appreciation for advancing an ALEC issue. He added that no legislator or private enterprise member should receive an award more than once . He said that the criteria for receipt of a legislator or private enterprise member award should be work on a task force, work on behalf of the ALEC state delegation or work in leadership positions .

AND I KNOW  that
Valauri won “ALEC's "Private Sector Member of the Year Award"
NOT a certificate
AND I know she won it at the Annual Meeting in 2008 in Chicago

And I know in 2010 the American Legislative Exchange Council STILL REQUIRES award recipients to be MEMBERS
BECAUSE

"of a private-sector member of ALEC in good standing"

So somebody sure as hell isn't telling the truth

THUS  ...

I have a tendency NOT TO BELIEVE NATIONWIDE INSURANCE.

Who's butt are they trying to cover up
their own
or ALEC's
- after Moyers expose' on ALEC's corporate agenda?
(see Moyer's expose'  >>HERE<<< )

But I guess I'll put this Nationwide Insurance / ALEC fiasco to rest.
It's evident they Nationwide does not have any decent research analysts on their staff.
(BTW - all you have to do is check your payables for the past four years - idiots!)

I've found it is a waste of time to argue with sociopaths.
We will never be able to prove it
– either way and

I have other ALEC LIARS that I want to expose
 - too much time spent on this one as of right now.

Just goes to show -
You can't trust what an ALEC member tells you.
EVER!
