Our President and all the Democrats (except Mark Pocan & Bernie Sanders [I] ) live in a fairyland.
All of them are so busy chasing their tails that none of them are paying attention to what is really happening in America.
Their ignorance and their refusal to act against ALEC will destroy the United States of America.
Our ignorance and our refusal to act against ALEC will destroy the United States of America.
No one is going to step forward and save our country. We are headed for a “corporate state” – we will become a complete fascist state, probably within the next ten years - that's what ALEC wants and there is no one to fight them on it - (oops, better pull the covers over your head, put your fingers in your ears - la, la, la, la, la, la, - there's that "f" word - god forbid I should upset the "offenderati" of political blogging).
Those of us who see the phrase “American Legislative Exchange Council” (ALEC) and pull the cover over our heads are only delaying the inevitable truth.
Those of us who see the phrase “American Legislative Exchange Council” (ALEC) and pull the cover over our heads denying the truth about what is REALLY happening to the United States of America – are supporting ALEC – giving them exactly what they want and need– our complacency.
Those of us who are too busy to care about our democracy - too busy with soccer games, working late, going out to dinner, getting drunk or any other damn excuse you can come up so you can avoid stepping forward and fighting for the democracy of our nation – will not have time to care, when you are cold, hungry, and wishing you could make more than 20 cents an hour.
Go ahead – spend your day surfing the net to learn as much as you can about ALEC and then go to your kids soccer game tonight and pull the covers back over your head and then go back to sleep.
Here's my response to the President's fairytale last night - excerpts from the President's speech are in blue.
But know this: The next election is 14 months away. And the people who sent us here -- the people who hired us to work for them -- they don’t have the luxury of waiting 14 months. (Applause.) Some of them are living week to week, paycheck to paycheck, even day to day. They need help, and they need it now.
He doesn’t get it. The people "who hired us" - who "sent them there" are for the most part - ALEC Corporate Sector members. The citizens of the United State are no longer represented by our government - we're just the schmucks who pay our taxes, to pay for US Congress and our state legislators who only supply representation to the ALEC Corporate Sector members. The ALEC ALUMNI in the Congress don’t give a damn about the citizens of the United States. As far as ALEC is concerned we should be willing to work for prison labor rates of 20 cents an hour and be damn glad that we’re given the privilege to do that.
But the millions of Americans who are watching right now, they don’t care about politics. They have real-life concerns. … These men and women grew up with faith in an America where hard work and responsibility paid off. They believed in a country where everyone gets a fair shake and does their fair share -- where if you stepped up … If you did the right thing, you could make it. Anybody could make it in America.
My Mom taught that life isn’t fair – now I understand what she meant. This scenario of the “American Dream” is fiction that the American people are holding on to while the United States as we know it falls apart because of the influence of ALEC at the state and federal levels.
What the American people should now believe in – is the ALEC version of the United States – where we make 20 cents an hour, live in filth, breathe filth, drink filth, and every one of us lives in a rundown shack or under a bridge – because that’s what we deserve - because we were too damn stupid to be rich like the Koch brothers and the DeVoses and the Scaifes.
Anybody “could make it” in the United States – use of the past tense is apropos in the new world of ALEC. Now nobody can make it in the United States.
Pass this jobs bill, and all small business owners will also see their payroll taxes cut in half next year. (Applause.) If you have 50 employees -- if you have 50 employees making an average salary, that’s an $80,000 tax cut. And all businesses will be able to continue writing off the investments they make in 2012.
Pass this jobs bill, and the typical working family will get a $1,500 tax cut next year. Fifteen hundred dollars that would have been taken out of your pocket will go into your pocket.
Another year of underfunding Social Security - in fact now we’re expanding the under-funding of Social Security by expanding it to businesses cuts. What a fucking bad idea (repeated for another year). Not even going to comment on this – it pisses me off so much!
I know that some of you have sworn oaths to never raise any taxes on anyone for as long as you live.
Oaths to Grover Norquist – who has been associated with ALEC since the dark ages.
Our tax code should not give an advantage to companies that can afford the best-connected lobbyists. It should give an advantage to companies that invest and create jobs right here in the United States of America. (Applause.)
Lobbyist don’t matter anymore – when you have ALEC in every state and federal office the whole United States – who in the hell needs lobbyists. Lobbyists are now just the window dressing - that people can point to as the problem. ALEC is in control – and we are letting ALEC advance in the destruction of the United States of America.
And on all of our efforts to strengthen competitiveness, we need to look for ways to work side by side with America’s businesses. That’s why I’ve brought together a Jobs Council of leaders from different industries who are developing a wide range of new ideas to help companies grow and create jobs.
Oh, boy – does this sound like the infamous ALEC initiative – “Council on Efficient Government Act“. Just what we need more ALEC corporate representatives in our government. Just what we need - ALEC corporations coming directly into the federal government to privatize everything. It’s not bad enough that corporations get one on one meetings three times a year with our state legislators “as equals” at ALEC meetings – now we need to bring them into the Federal government.
That’s why I ordered a review of all government regulations. So far, we’ve identified over 500 reforms, which will save billions of dollars over the next few years. (Applause.) We should have no more regulation than the health, safety and security of the American people require. Every rule should meet that common-sense test.
Oh boy – I bet the ALEC ALUMNI were wetting themselves when Obama said this – just what ALEC wants for their corporations – less regulations.
Common sense test? Washington and our state legislatures don’t know what common sense is – the only thing they know is “ALEC sense” and the “ALEC test” – what’s good for ALEC corporate sector members is good for ALEC corporate sector members and screw everybody else.
In fact, this larger notion that the only thing we can do to restore prosperity is just dismantle government, refund everybody’s money, and let everyone write their own rules, and tell everyone they’re on their own -- that’s not who we are. That’s not the story of America.
Dismantle the government – yep. Sell off the government and government assets and buildings to ALEC Corporate Sector Members, so they can "rent" them back to us – yep. Refund everybody’s money – just for the corporations and the rich people, yep. Let ALEC Corporate Sector Members write the rules of the United States, the ALEC legislators will enforce them – yep. Tell everyone they are on their own to live under a bridge and eat cat food and dig through dumpsters to be able to survive - Yep. Welcome to NEW United States – President Obama – United States of ALEC. This is the new story of America.
No single individual built America on their own. We built it together. We have been, and always will be, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all; a nation with responsibilities to ourselves and with responsibilities to one another. And members of Congress, it is time for us to meet our responsibilities. (Applause.)
No single individual destroyed America - we destroyed it together.
We were one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.
We are now
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the ALEC owned States of America.
And to the corporations for which ALEC stands
One plutocracy, ruled by ALEC, with liberty and justice for no "real person".
