ALEC Conference - The Numbers Don't Compute

Now there is a little bit of a conundrum here.

Consider this from the ALEC webpage:
Hotel Address
    The Palmer House Hilton
    17 East Monroe St.
    Chicago, IL60603
Reservation Deadline
Wednesday, July 17, 2013
After July 17, 2013 every effort will be made to accommodate new reservations, based on availability and rate
Doesn't matter what the rate is - the corporations are footing the bill - with their ALEC Scholarships.

BUT note one other thing.
The Palmer is the ONLY HOTEL LISTED for the conference
No other hotel, with ALEC conference rates, is listed.
None, just the Palmer.

I'm positive in 1998 - when they went to Chicago for the 25th Anniversary - they had two hotels.

Today is the 18th - there is NO notice on the ALEC webpage that the hotel has filled up and a secondary hotel might be - - - - - - - -
Just went online to see if I could book a room at the Palmer - and YES , they have rooms available.
I entered my  needs
     06 Aug 2013 - 10 Aug 2013, 2 rooms for 2 adults

 Hit enter
And lo and behold
A bevy of beautiful boudoirs presented before me.
Lots of rooms available at the Hilton during the ALEC conference.

Therefore, the assumption could be made that the Palmer House has not sold out (and you know ALEC would have bought the whole hotel - if they were confident it would sell out - and if they could afford it.).

Soooo - based on that information - - -
There's a mathematical problem that has developed.

If you think about this advertisement for the meeting, the numbers just don't add up.
Date: 8/7/2013
THE American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) will hold its Annual Meeting in Chicago from August 7-9. Nearly 3,000 state legislators, senior business executives and public policy experts will gather for the meeting. ALEC was founded more than a quarter century ago as an association grounded in the fundamental Jeffersonian principles of limited government, federalism and free markets. Registration materials are available from the ALEC offices in Washington, D.C. by calling 202-466-3800
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm
Nearly 3,000 state legislators, senior business executives and public policy experts will gather for the meeting.
Hmmm really  - That's off by about 1,400 attendees
Especially when you consider the rooms are free - paid for out of the wallets of the corporations - all of the rooms in some way or another.  No reason not to stay at the Palmer.  No other hotel with a conference rate for ALEC.

So:
Are 1,400 meeting attendees coming in just for a day?
Are 1,400 meeting attendees from Illinois - driving into the City every day?

Why do I ask those questions?
Because:
The Palmer Hotel
has a total of 1,639 guest rooms,
Hmmm really  -
If ALEC was really  expecting 3,000 attendees
That's 1,361 attendees with no place to sleep.
And the Palmer Hotel is still taking reservations online for the dates of the ALEC meeting.

1,361 homeless ALECers with nowhere to sleep - poor babies.

OR
maybe those ALECers are bunking up together - two ALECers to a room.

But I doubt that - cause most of them bring their families to this meeting.
Maybe they are counting the ALECer spouses and kids in that 3,000 number
Maybe they are counting the ALECer spouses and kids and the hotel staff in that 3,000 number
Maybe they are counting the ALECer spouses and kids and the hotel staff and the protestors in that 3,000 number
Maybe they are counting the ALECer spouses and kids and the hotel staff and the protestors and the Chicago police department that will protecting them in that 3,000 number
Maybe they are counting the ALECer spouses and kids and the hotel staff and the protestors and the Chicago police department and the private pinkertons they hired that will protecting them in that 3,000 number
Maybe they are counting the ALECer spouses and kids and the hotel staff and the protestors and the Chicago police department and the private pinkertons they hired and homeland security that will protecting them in that 3,000 number
and
three members of the extremist right wing press.

OR
maybe the American Legislative Exchange Council is doing what they do best
- LYING
- LYING about the projected attendance
- intentionally misleading the public
- intentionally misleading the press

Why would I say that?
Cause in OKC they only had "about 500 attendees"
and the majority of them were  "senior business executives and public policy experts"
- the protestors OUTNUMBERED the attendees.

Maybe we can do the same in Chicago
