I’m pretty sure Noem looked at the writing on the wall and
knew that there wasn’t a chance in hell that an ALEC-er could get elected in
South Dakota right now.
ALEC is not doing well in South Dakota right now - yoo-hoo.
ALEC is not doing well in South Dakota right now - yoo-hoo.
Perry Stein 6:53 PM EDT, Tuesday June 11, 2013Rep. Kristi Noem (R-SD) announced Tuesday that she would not be seeking the GOP nomination for the Senate"I am grateful to everyone who has encouraged me and pledged support for a potential campaign for the U.S. Senate," Noem said in a statement. "Right now [my family and I] are in the best position to serve South Dakota as a member of the U.S. House."The South Dakota seat is considered a potential GOP pick-up for the 2014 election cycle.
Maybe Not!
Not when you consider that ALEC is under fire in South
Dakota.
If you are not familiar with the ALEC story in South
Dakota:
South Dakota legislative Executive Committee passed an item requiring ALL legislators to be ALEC members – even Dems that don’t want to be members.
South Dakota legislative Executive Committee passed an item to reimburse ALEC legislators for going to ALEC meetings – even though they don’t need to – because ALEC corporations provide scholarships to pay for 100% of their costs.
The South Dakota Democratic Party has been on top of this
– even placing ads in local newspapers to educate citizens on the nastiness of
the partisan, ultra-conservative, extremist, right-wing American Legislative Exchange
Council.
