There's a gun pointed at the heart of representative democracy, and your Congressperson has their finger on the trigger.

It's called the American Legislative Exchange Council- or ALEC for short.

And while its name may sound perfectly harmless, it's the single reason why your vote no longer matters.

You see, due to the influence wielded by this mysterious group, elected officials have become little more than high-paid rubber stamps.

As for representation, thanks to ALEC, you don't really have any.

Did you know that

YOUR ALEC legislator

believes that their loyalty to ALEC

is MORE IMPORTANT

than their service to you - the general public?

ALEC legislators who are squandering tax payer money on ALEC pro-corporate privatization initiatives are now being told by ALEC to tell the general public to go to hell - unless the ALEC hone office staff gives them permission to talk to the general public.

You, my constituent, wants an answer to that question?

You must be wrong  - I don't report to you, the constituent!

In an ALEC November 2010 rebuttal press release to an NPR exposé on ALEC they noted this about their membership list:

 ALEC is a private organization similar to membership organizations such as the YMCA.

My response is, “No you are not like the YMCA! Don’t flatter yourself.”

The YMCA should sue you for defamation.

State legislators will proudly state their association with the YMCA in their biographies

–  about 95% of all ALEC members do not put their ALEC membership in their biography. 

–  most ALEC members are ashamed to admit to anyone that they belong to this despicable extremist organization.

And now

ALEC has decided that every document ALEC produces, ALEC documents that disrupt and interfere with the running of state and federal governments is "private".
