Extinction Denial - Will Not Work

Last Friday I read this on Common Dreams:
Levels of atmospheric CO2 have never been this high in human history;
We have succeeded in killing ourselves.
And if you're experiencing a sense of doom that we've reached a level of CO2 the Earth hasn't seen for at least three million years, you're not alone.
“It feels like the inevitable march toward disaster,” Maureen E. Raymo, a Columbia University earth scientist, warned.
Yes, I have been feeling a sense of doom since Friday.

This morning, May 13th, a little over an hour from the Twin Cities, there are freeze watches and freeze warnings in affect.
Tomorrow – May 14th – it will be 92 degrees in the Twin Cities.
What worries scientists in 2013 is not only the amount ofCO2 in the atmosphere, but how fast it continues to build up without showing any sign of slowing or even stabilizing. Today's rate of carbon dioxide increase is more than 100 times faster than the increase that occurred when the last ice age ended, NOAA said today. At this rate, even 400 ppm will soon vanish in the rearview mirror.
The thing I can’t figure out is

Knowing that the global climate is changing,
we all die – sooner than any of us ever wanted.
All of us – Dems. Repugs, Independents, nut jobs.
     All dead.
It is surprising to me - that people aren't concerned about - dying..

You can't hide from this death.
There is nowhere to go - to get away from it.
      GLOBAL climate change
Extinction denial will not work.
All of us – Dems. Repugs, Independents, nut jobs.
     All dead.

The thing I can’t figure out is
If you are a climate change denier
What would it hurt to work with us - what would it hurt?
Why fight every green initiative - why?
Why not just humor us and work with us?

By implementing green initiatives – we make the world a better place – period.
If climate change is a hoax, the climate change deniers can claim victory
     – but, the planet wins with more green initiatives.

But,
If you are a climate change denier
And you continue to fight every green initiative
     And we do nothing
     – and global climate change is real
We die.
    Extinction denial will not work.
All of us – Dems. Repugs, Independents, nut jobs.
All dead.
Recently, however, renewable energy has become more politically divisive. Attacks on RES policies are now being led by organizations such as the American Legislative Exchange Council, Beacon Hill Institute, and Heritage Foundation, which often receive funding from fossil fuel interests and use biased analysis to advocate for the repeal or scaling back of RES policies.”

I blame this on the American Legislative Exchange Council who has been “educating” over 1/3 of all legislators for 40 years that climate change is not real - that climate change is "junk science".

I blame this on American Legislative Exchange Council legislators who are artificially manipulating the laws and regulations to favor and reward fossil fuel funders of ALEC.

I blame this on the pro-corporate American Legislative Exchange Council for providing for-profit companies with unprecedented leverage to change regulations, write legislation and influence our legislators – at the detriment of the general public and the commons.

We can not entrust our environment to for-profit entities.

For-profit entities are only concerned with one thing – profit at any cost.

Profit at any cost = death.

Extinction denial will not work.
I guess the good news is – we will ALL die.

The American Legislative Exchange Council is not only the biggest threat to our democracy - it is the biggest threat to our planet.

As long as the American Legislative Exchange Council is allowed to exist - the more damage we do, not only to our democracy - but to our planet.  ALEC legislators - don't care about you or me - they only care about providing profit opportunities for ALEC corporate funders.  Profit at any cost - for ALEC corporate funders.
