Is Meat the Next Oil?

Heard this on the radio this morning
Prices are hitting record highs as the summer grilling season starts.
Beef prices are hitting record highs just as the summer grilling season begins.
Just so you are aware
We are not talking about family farms producing that beef.

We are talking about corporate profits.
We are talking about corporate control of the food market.
We are talking about corporate profits.

This is NOT about feeding America - like the family farm was about -
THIS IS ABOUT CORPORATE PROFIT.
Corporations do not care if YOU can afford food.
Corporations only care about corporate profit.

A few companies now control America’s food system.
A few companies now control America’s food system.
A few companies now control America’s food system.
A few companies now control America’s food system. The four largest firms in each sector produce 72 percent of the nation’s beef, 63 percent of the nation’s pork and 57 percent of the nation’s chicken – giving those companies vast control over the agricultural marketplace and the practices farmers use to raise food.
Monsanto, Tyson, Perdue and Smithfield
These four companies, as a result of corporate consolidation, constitute a huge share of the "seed-to-fork" American food production market. (In the 1970s, the top five beef packers controlled just 25 percent of the market; today, the top four control more than 80 percent.
Monsanto, Tyson, Perdue and Smithfield

We are talking about corporate profits.
We are talking about corporate control of the food market.
AND the profits and control of  the food market may end up outside the US.
China's largest meat processor struck a surprise $4.7 billion agreement to acquire Smithfield Foods Inc., a deal that would mark the biggest Chinese takeover of an American company and underscores the Asian nation's renewed determination to scoop up overseas assets.
The presidents of the four largest firms in food production - probably believe that you do not have a right to food.

Food is all about money $$$$$$ - - - now.
